Staple Hill Methodist Church Bristol

Welcome to the church on the hill

Services at Staple Hill

We currently have no public services, because of coronavirus restrictions.  We are recording some online services, which can be found on the Our Services page.

Sunday Services  10.30-11.30am and 6-7pm

The Sunday morning service provides a creche for children up to 3, and a Sunday Club (from 10.45am app) for children 4 and over.

The first Sunday of each month is often a Family Service, at which children stay throughout, and which is followed by tea and coffee and a chance to chat.

The second evening service of each month is usually a Taize service, built on the lovely meditative chants of the Taize community  in France.

Services are taken several times each month by our Minister, Rev Aboseh Ngwanga, but services may also be taken by  other Methodist preachers, occasionally ministers from other denominations, or by local lay preachers.  Once a quarter the service is taken by our Worship group, drawn from the congregation. Once a year we hold a Memorial Service, specifically but not only for the families who have lost loved ones during the year. Methodists love singing, and we have a number of Songs of Praise services. We also of course celebrate Harvest, Mothering Sunday, Holy Week and Christmas, with special services.

We celebrate Holy Communion once or twice a month.  The services for each Sunday are advertised on the board outside the church, and also on the Calendar of this website.  We also have a weekly newsletter; if you would like to receive this electronically please contact

You will be made very welcome at all our services.
