We are delighted to be celebrating the centenary of one of our congregation this weekend. Jean Hanmer has been attending the church for about 60 years. She is still going strong, and will be 100 on Monday. Jean was a leading figure in the local Folk House at Lincombe Barn in Downend Bristol, and will be celebrating on Saturday with her friends there, before hosting a lunch for her church friends after the service on Sunday, and then celebrating with her family on her actual birthday! Jean was never one for taking it easy! Jean has been an inspirational and much loved part of church life, and looks like being with us for some time yet!
Sadly, Jean bowed out gracefully on her 100th birthday. She lived to recieve her telegram, and to urge her friends at church to celebrate her special luncheon, before passin away peacefully in the afternoon, surrounded by her family. It was characteristic of Jean to arrange things so neatly. She was a lady of great character, and is much missed.
