It is with great sadness that we record the death of Jean, on her 100th birthday on March 5th. Her health had deteriorated quite rapidly, and she was too poorly to attend the church celebration on Sunday, although she insisted we go ahead without her. Because her birthday celebrations were long planned, she had all her farflung family around her when she died, including 2 who had been stuck by the weather in Glasgow up until Sunday. Jean had been a deeply felt presence at Staple Hill for many decades. She (with her late husband, James) had strong principles and a strong personality. Although she had inevitably been less active in recent years, she remained a regular attender at services and meetings. She will be enormously missed. Our thoughts and prayers are of course with her family members.
